Apple iPhone 7 vs Google Pixel XL: Apps, Battery, Camera and More

The Apple iPhone 7 and Google Pixel are probably the most talked about smartphones available in the market right now. This article compares both the devices and highlights some of their strengths over the other.

Apps

If you're used to using Apple products, then you're well aware of how effective the Apple ecosystem is. There are some small features in both the MacBook and the iPhone that make doing things very easy.

The MacBook and iPhone can work together in many ways. For one, you can set your iPhone to be a WiFi hotspot for your MacBook. Mac also has a lot of easy to use communication apps, such as iMessage and FaceTime, although these apps only work between and among iOS devices.

While these features have equivalents on the Android, Apple makes them much more convenient.

However, Android seems better at showing notifications than the iOS. Google Pixel also has a better voice assistant in Google Assistant, which performs better and is much more intelligent than Siri for now.

Aesthetics

The iPhone looks better than the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. According to Phone Arena, "With a combination of curves, flat surfaces, and angled bevels, the Pixel may offer a comfortable grip, but it's also a model that never feels quite as sleek and effortless as the iPhone."

Having said that, the Google Pixel offers a unique way to make gripping your phone easier. Gripping the Pixel is easier because of a glass inlay located at the back.

The iPhone 7 also offers a lot more color options. These include rose gold, gold, jet black, matte black and silver. In contrast, Google Pixel only comes in two options: very silver and quite black.

Water Proof

For some reason, Google decided not to make the Pixel waterproof. The iPhone 7 has this feature though, not to make you able to take pictures underwater, but just as an initial protection from water spills.

Battery

The Google Pixel XL charges faster than the iPhone 7, at least according to a test conducted by Tech YouTuber SuperSaf TV. In this video, the Galaxy S7 Edge, iPhone 7 Plus and Pixel XL charging rates were compared.

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge won with a full battery after only 1 hour and 29 minutes. Second was the Google Pixel XL, which was 98% after 2 hours. At that same amount of time, the iPhone 7 Plus was only 72% charged.

Additionally, the Pixel has a better battery life, because Android has a Doze feature which reduces power consumption when not in use.

Camera

The iPhone 7 Plus has a dual lens camera, which makes high quality photos even when zoomed in. The second lens acts as an optical zoom. Other smart phones have to sacrifice photo quality when zoomed because they use digital zoom, which enlarges the pixels causing a blurry effect.

The dual lens camera also allows to create bokeh pictures; that is, photos with blurry backgrounds and focused subjects. This technique is common among professional photographers.
