Atlantic City Casino Heist: $181,000 Stolen by 2 Armed Robbers
An Atlantic City casino heist netted two armed thieves $181,000 Monday morning. At around 6 a.m., two men went into Caesars Atlantic City casino and managed to escape with two plastic cash boxes containing thousands in cash.
The Atlantic City casino heist details are being kept under wraps by authorities and the casino, but they did reveal via a police flyer that one of the men pulled a gun on an employee in the gaming area. After the robbery the thieves escaped in a car, Reuters reported.
The New Jersey State Police Gaming Bureau went on a manhunt Tuesday to try to find the thieves, but so far has not reported any suspects or clues to their whereabouts. Anyone with information about the robbers has been encouraged to contact authorities.
This isn't the first time Caesars Atlantic City has been robbed. Two men armed with nothing but pepper sprayed temporarily blinded a blackjack dealer in 2012, grabbed $5,000 worth of chips and ran out. Those two thieves weren't as lucky, because an employee managed to tackle one of them, and he gave up his partner in crime.
Even if the Gaming Bureau doesn't catch Monday's smash-and-grab bandits immediately, there's always the chance that they can in the future. Anthony Carleo dared to rob the Bellagio in Las Vegas in 2010 wearing a motorcycle helmet. He pulled a gun on a craps table employee and escaping with $1.5 million in chips. Carleo was eventually caught a few months later, according to reports.
