'Batman: Arkham VR' PC Release April 25; Why It's Worth Waiting For

Virtual reality (VR) gaming can be considered the newly discovered gold mine in entertainment, posing immense possibilities in terms of application. And while most titles are available exclusively to the PlayStation VR, one title created by Rocksteady Studios is finally coming to the PC platforms via Oculus Rift and HTC Vive this month.

In an announcement trailer, "Batman: Arkham VR" has been officially slated for an April 25 release for PC gamers to finally enjoy. This puts players in a first-person perspective, borrowing the eyes of the illustrious Bruce Wayne as he tries to solve mysteries surrounding the safety of his closest allies.

While the proposition to walk in the shoes of the caped crusader is very enticing, the experience is mostly exploration and puzzle-solving instead of crime fighting and hand-to-hand combat. The teaser shows exactly what one can do, from opening secret doorways, donning the bat suit, choosing a mode of transportation and investigating crime scenes.

Will it be worth the wait outside of the PlayStation platform? There are a lot of reasons why it would still be a great experience despite the lack of actual skirmish.

As far as the immersion goes, Games Radar gives the title a solid 4 out of 5 stars, mentioning how realistic the whole gameplay is, making one actually believe he is Batman. From descending to the Bat Cave to actually hunting down culprits, everything feels so surreal that it is not hard to lose one's self in the virtual reality.

In the gaming department, the fact that it is being ported to the PC means that it will most likely open new opportunities. While a lot of PC gamers have successfully modified other games, it will be interesting to see what they come up with in the VR playthrough.

"Batman: Arkham VR" arrives on PC platforms on April 25, 2017.
