Fans of "Sex and the City" may be disappointed to learn that the home of Carrie Bradshaw has been sold. The property sold for $9.85 million, according to New York City records.
The five-bedroom home featured throughout the successful series and the "Sex and the City" movie sold very quickly, agents say. It was certainly helped by the fame of the show and the woman who made it so, Sarah Jessica Parker. No one expected it to bring in $9.85 million, nearly six percent more than the asking price.
When it first went on the market in 2011, the townhouse sold for $9 million after only a few days. It has had a storied past, being featured in Woody Allen's film, "Alice" and was the residence of "Project Runway" host Tim Gunn.
The new owners will be welcomed with four stories of wooden floors, six fireplaces, and five bedrooms. There may be a lack of privacy, though, as the house is featured on New York's "Sex and the City" tours, which draw in large crowds.
"Sex and the City" debuted in 1998 to the delight of many; it enjoyed a six-year run and is still featured in reruns on TV. Its stars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, and Kristin Davis have all benefited from its success and reunited in a 2008 movie that shattered box office records on opening weekend.
Cynthia Nixon and Sarah Jessica Parker each won an Emmy for their performance on the series, which won a total of seven Emmy awards, 8 Golden Globes and was named one of the "100 Best TV Shows of All-TIME."
Fans still travel to New York City in order to take the "SATC" tour, which features stops at Carrie Bradshaw's Upper West Side apartment, Magnolia Bakery, and several shoe stores.
