'Daredevil' Season 2 Cast News, Update: 'G.I. Joe' Star Signed to Take On Elektra Role

Marvel Television and Netflix has recently announced that they already have the person to take on the role of Elektra in the upcoming second season of the streaming service's hit superhero drama series "Daredevil."

The studio pointed out "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" actress Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios. Briefly described as a "mystery woman from Matt Murdock's [Charlie Cox] past," the sai-wielding female ninja's goal in coming over to the titular hero's beloved Hell's Kitchen is currently not known.

However, she is touted to cause some headaches as "her dangerous and exotic ways may be more than Daredevil can handle."

"After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra's impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie [Cox] as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for," the executive producer and head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb said.

In Retaliation, the French-Cambodian actress appeared as Jinx. Like her forthcoming role in the Netflix original series, the G.I. Joe character is also martial arts-centric.

The Greek heroine first appeared in a live-action portrayal headlined by Jennifer Garner in 2003's "Daredevil" film (with Ben Affleck as the titular character) and then in the 2005 solo follow-up "Elektra."

Yung's involvement in the series followed the casting announcement of "The Walking Dead" actor, Jon Bernthal, who is also coming over to portray the Marvel anti-hero Frank Castle/ The Punisher.

"Daredevil" Season 2 is slated to debut on Netflix this 2016.
