"After two other trials ended in hung juries, a Scott County jury found Techel guilty of killing his wife, Lisa Caldwell Techel, along with the Techels' unborn baby, with a 12-gauge shotgun blast May 26, 2012. The case is going through an appeal process," the site said.

Interestingly, the show's upcoming primer started when Lisa's father and Wapello County Sheriff's Deputy Todd Caldwell emailed "Dateline" not for the purpose that his late daughter's story be done, but to ask the show the contact information of a certain law enforcer who shared the same situation as his.

The show's producer, on the other hand, had learned of the Techel case after the first trial ended in a hung jury. Affiliate station, Channel 13 WHO, was able to follow the arrest and trial of Techel for years and through them, "Dateline" was able to obtain the footages that are to be featured in the premiere episode.

To be presented in 12 "acts" and separated by commercials, the forthcoming Friday night feature will tie up the loose ends of the murder story as well as reveal some shocking details including what "Todd does for a hobby."
