Donald Trump Flies to Puerto Rico, Throws Paper Towels to the Crowd at a Church

U.S. President Donald Trump recently made headlines after doing something unexpected during his trip to Puerto Rico.

On Tuesday this week, Trump caught the attention of the media and his critics when he chose an unlikely way to distribute the supplies to the victims of last month's Hurrican Maria. He reportedly threw rolls of paper towels into the crowd at a church, which easily became a trending topic, with some people calling it "strange."

This took place during an event for the victims at Calvary Chapel in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. However, following the criticisms he received from the various news reports written about the trip, Trump said on Twitter that it was a "great day" and that "some of the news coverage is fake."

Just last week, the U.S. President also caused a commotion when he compared the Hurricane Maria death toll, which is 16, to that of 2005's Hurrican Katrina, which took the lives of thousands.

As reported on E! News, referring to the latter as a "real catastrophe," Trump told Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló during a roundtable meeting, "Sixteen people versus in the thousands. You can be very proud of all of your people and all of our people working together."

He added, "You can be very proud. Everybody watching can really be very proud of what's taken place in Puerto Rico."

Meanwhile, the First Lady, who flew with the President to the hurricane-stricken Puerto Rico, recently received backlash over her choice of footwear.

According to Us Weekly, she left the White House wearing a pair of four-inch Manolo Blahnik heels, which are priced at almost $600. Plenty of her critics called her out for her footwear, saying that it is an impractical choice.

However, upon getting off the plane as they arrived at their destination, she reportedly changed her outfit and wore a more casual number with a pair of Timberland boots.
