'Fargo' Season 2 Release Date, Cast Rumors: Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson and Jean Smart to Join Show
Recent cast news about the new and upcoming season of the hit dark comedy-crime drama "Fargo" indicated that the show will see the acts of Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, and Jean Smart.
According to Variety.com, the three actors will be featured in the second chapter of the popular FX TV show which is slated to premiere next fall.
As stated by the media outlet, the 41-year-old Wilson will star the character named Lou Solverson. Lou is described as a "young, clean-cut Minnesota State Patrolman, four years back from Vietnam, where he served in the Navy."
For the 67-year-old Danson, he will play the part of Hank Larsson. Hank is Lou's father-in-law and is serving as sheriff at Rock County, Minnesota.
Meanwhile for Smart, the 63-year-old stage actress will play as Floyd Gerhardt – the matriarch of the Gerhardt crime family.
As added by the website, the new episodes of Fargo will be set in the 1970s era in Sioux, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota.
Both Lou and Hank will set out to investigate a case about a "local crime gang and a major mob syndicate."
For those wondering what "Fargo" Season 2 will tackle about, Rolling Stone reported showrunner Noah Hawley speaking with Entertainment Weekly to reveal that the forthcoming installment will be a "lot bigger," thematically.
"The scope of the storytelling this season is a lot bigger — thematically, on a character level, and story-wise," Hawley said. "It has more of an epic feel to it. That's exciting. Within that expansion, we're still holding onto that Fargo tone. My feeling was that Joel and Ethan never repeat themselves, so the show would be false if we just tried to do the same thing again. We should take their example."
As previously reported, production for "Fargo" Season 2 will begin in Calgary this Jan. 19.
