Galaxy Nexus 2 Specs Actually Belong to New 'Galaxy Premier'

The recent Galaxy Nexus 2 specifications that were supposedly discovered in a User Agent Profile actually belong to another Samsung device known as the Galaxy Premier.

This handset was listed under the codename GT-i9260 and was originally believed to be the successor to last year's Galaxy Nexus.

However, Samsung has confirmed that this is a new device known as the Galaxy Premier that is extremely close to the Galaxy S3 in terms of specifications.

The device features a 4.65-inch 720 x 1280 display with a 1.5GHz dual-core Exynos 5 processor.

Samsung and Google have already begun working on a successor to the wildly popular Galaxy Nexus, according to some publications.

This device will debut running either Android 4.1, JellyBean software or Android 5.0, Key Lime Pie. However, none of this information has been officially confirmed by the company.

Last year's Galaxy Nexus made headlines when it introduced the world to the highly anticipated Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich software. Samsung seems to have a handle on creating devices that optimize the Android experience, and the original Galaxy Nexus was a perfect example of this.

Certain variants of the Galaxy Nexus have already been upgraded to Android 4.1 JellyBean.

Sprint customers who own the smartphone are still waiting for the update to roll out. Samsung issued a minor software upgrade last week in order to bring the carrier's version of the Galaxy Nexus up to speed.

It brought the device's software build version to number L700.FG01, and slightly tweaks its on-screen signal strength indicator, along with adding support for Sprint TV.

The update also changes the default settings on Wi-Fi and LTE making them "on" now that Sprint's LTE network is fully operational.
