No stores in the United States have announced plans to start allowing customers to pre-order the Galaxy Nexus, but it should not be long because Canada is beginning pre-orders early next week.

Samsung, together with Google, hosted the “Mobile Unpacked” event where they first announced the upcoming Galaxy Nexus smartphone would be available in November.

They also confirmed the smartphone's official name as the Galaxy Nexus.

The new device will sport impressive specifications, including a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display, and a 5-megapixel camera capable of filming in 1080p HD.

It will also be the first device to run on Google’s new Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

The Galaxy Nexus will feature a unique curved design with a slip resistant hyper-skin backing.

It will also include NFC, and perform on LTE networks and possibly HSPA+, according to the demand for the smartphone.

Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich OS was also unveiled at the event.

The Galaxy Nexus is set to be the flagship smartphone for the new software.

Owners of other Android smartphones have awaited the Galaxy Nexus launch, because it would be the first sign of the Ice Cream Sandwich OS update making its way to their devices.
