Holiday ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Grinch’ Mashup Video Goes Viral

The holiday season has already welcomed a video trend that combines the classic “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” with “Star Wars” on YouTube.

The clip sets the evil Darth Vader to the characteristic tune “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” from Dr. Seuss’ “Grinch” cartoon of 1966.

The video has over 41,000 views and is preempted with the disclaimer, “He has all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile.”

Daniel wrote, “Never thought about Vader that way before, awesome job there.”

The video also has support on Twitter with users expressing their approval.

“Something to put you in the holiday spirit,” wrote Twitter user Eldric. “A Star Wars version of the Grinch that Stole Christmas.”

Many fans call the video “amazing” and “brilliant,” and Twitter user Nat wrote, “Star Wars meets the Grinch. Far more entertaining than you may think.”

Dr. Seuss’ rhymed verse and illustrated story, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” had been argued by critics to criticize the commercialization of Christmas and satirizes those who profit from exploiting the holiday.

The fictional antagonist, The Grinch, has a heart “two sizes too small” and tries to prevent Christmas from arriving in the story. After stealing all gifts and decorations from Whoville, the home of the merry Whos, The Grinch realizes that Christmas is about more than material items.

The classic Christmas take is still popular with kids and adults alike, and has seen many film, television, and musical adaptations.
