HTC One M9+ Release Date: Android Phablet Will Get Plastic-Clad Variant, Reveals Chinese Website

After months of waiting, the HTC One M9+ was finally announced less than a month ago to help the One M9 in sales. But only a few weeks later, the Taiwanese brand may already be preparing a cheaper version.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, another HTC handset has just appeared on Chinese certification website TENAA.

Dubbed as the HTC One M9e, the Android-powered handset is said to be a cheaper edition of the One M9+.

In the report, some of the specs of the device include a 5.2-inch display with the same QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM, a MediaTek chipset instead of a Snapdragon 810 SoC, and 32GB of built-in memory.

Other specs revealed by the certification website include the HTC flagships' 20MP primary camera and UltraPixel front cam, a microSD card slot, and the fingerprint scanner.

So what would be the difference between the One M9+ and the soon to be announced handset?

Similar to previous HTC handsets, the main difference would be the cover. While the One M9+ phablet boasts a metal chassis, the M9e would only get a plastic body.

The report speculated that the One M9e could be aimed at the Western market, considering the fact that the One M9+ will target the Asian market.

Of course, we cannot assure anything unless it comes from the Taiwanese manufacturer itself.
