'Jak and Daxter' PS2 Classics Get Reborn on the PS4 Within 2017

There are a lot of classic games that deserve rebirth onto the current generation of consoles because of the critical acclaim they received. As such, a collection of PlayStation 2 (PS2) masterpieces are coming to the PlayStation 4 (PS4) within the year.

In a PlayStation blog post, Sony Interactive Entertainment America's associate producer Bryan Pardilla has announced that all Jak and Daxter titles, namely "Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy," "Jak II," "Jak 3" and even the spinoff "Jak X: Combat Racing," are arriving on the PS4 this year. Those who loved the games will definitely want more of it when it finally ports on the current PlayStation console.

Pardilla has added that like any PS2 titles ported on the PS4, all the games will be getting a 1,080p resolution as well as new Trophy achievements. Moreover, features such as Shareplay, Remote Play and Activity Feeds will also be available for the games.

The Jak and Daxter series is a platformer video game that follows the exploits of the main character, Jak, and his friend turned Ottsel (a fictional combination of an otter and a weasel), Daxter. Together, they try to unlock the mysteries of their world and gain more understanding on the forces that govern it.

While the three main titles are platformers in which the player scours the area for items while avoiding hazards and enemies, the spinoff "Jak X: Combat Racing," as the name implies, is a racing game against other competitors with a little destructive twist. With a lot of stories to dive into, it promises hours of fun and excitement.

Will it be worth buying when it finally becomes available? The whole series has met generally positive results from critics, which is primarily the reason why it is being reborn. The first installment has received a whopping 90.22% from Game Rankings, which is further evidence of how good it is.

While there is no confirmed date yet, interested players will only need to wait within the year for the series to be downloadable on the PlayStation Store.
