'Land of the Lustrous' Episode 12 Spoilers: Does a New Gem Hold the Answer to the Mysteries of Master Kongo?

A gem that has been asleep for a long time is about to awaken on the next episode of the Japanese action-fantasy anime series, "Land of the Lustrous." Will this gem be able to answer the questions that have begun to form in Phos' mind?

The previous episode saw Master Kongo ultimately subduing the Lunarian, Shiro. And for a brief moment, he also seemed to act like he's known the creature for a very long time prior to this encounter. This has made Phos suspicious of their own mentor. As it turned out, this has been a suspicion that all other gems shared long before Phos even thought about it.

This has, in turn, made the youngest gem curious as to what could possibly connect their most trusted mentor to the villainous Lunarians that have persistently tried to take them away. But it seems that everybody is against Phos confronting Master Kongo about these suspicions. But could a gem that has been asleep for years think otherwise?

A gem named Padparadscha, who has been born with holes on their torso, has only been kept alive by Rutile's efforts to sustain them. And with the gem's torso now patched up with rubies, it seems that Padparadscha is about to finally wake up, as shown in the preview for the next episode titled "New Work."

The preview also shows Bort taking on a new partner in Zircon, as well as what looks to be a match between Cinnabar and Phos.

"Land of the Lustrous" airs on Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. JST on AT-X and at 10 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX. It also airs on the same day at 11 p.m. JST on BS11 and late night at 2:38 a.m. JST on MBS. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site. Episodes are also available for regions outside Japan via Amazon Prime's Anime Strike service.
