The parade will also see numerous Marching Bands take part, with bands coming to New York City all the way from the likes of Michigan and Florida to take part in the festivities.

Performances are also expected from the likes of Pat Benatar, Mariah Carey and Panic At The Disco, and of course as usual, the guest of honor at the climax will be Santa Claus himself riding on his sleigh.

Executive producer Amy Kule has said, "The 89th edition of Macy's famed holiday procession promises to deliver an unrivaled spectacle of magic for millions of spectators lining the streets of New York City and millions more watching it unfold in homes across the nation."

She added that the event "will continue to delight audiences of all ages, as together we celebrate the start of the holiday season."

Those hoping to capture the best positions for the parade should get to the parade route as early as 6 a.m. according to many estimates. However, the actual parade will not officially get underway until 9 a.m. on Thursday, and the event will go on for a full three hours until noon.

This year's parade route is scheduled to start at 77th Street and 8th Avenue, and will move along Central Park West before making a turn at 59th Street.

The route will be go down 6th Avenue, and go on all the way to 34th Street before making its stop at Macy's landmark store on 7th Avenue.
