Marvel Comics Teases Ex-Avenger Joining 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'
A new recruit will be joining the All-New "Guardians of the Galaxy" and this particular addition will be quite familiar to "Avengers" fans. Marvel Comics recently released artist Rod Reis' cover for issue #12 and in it is a teaser for a few possible candidates including Deadpool, Cable, Doctor Strange and Man-Thing.
The storyline's synopsis reads: "The Guardians have been tasked with some wacky and big adventures while doing the Grandmaster's bidding, which includes stealing from The Collector – and Star-Lord even accidentally, destroyed one of his favorite mix-tapes. Now, as they prepare for their Legacy arc THE INFINITY QUEST, they'll have to team up with the group that has been on their tails – the Nova Corps – as well as one ex-Avenger if they want to keep the universe safe."
Marvel's press release teases the identity of this ex-Avenger and one of the five characters feature in Reis' cover could give fans a hint. At first glance, the cover appears to feature only four Avengers. However, a closer look in Man-Thing's shoulders shows what appears to be the silhouette of a man suggesting that Ant-Man could possibly be the ex-Avenger joining the guardians.
"We're excited to have an Avenger joining the ranks of the Guardians... or is it the Nova Corps? Or both? Oh, you'll see," said editor Jordan D. White. "Just know, he beat out some stiff competition, as you can tell by that cover of issue #12!"
While the addition of an Avenger to the Guardians seem to be inspired by the upcoming team-up in "Avengers: Infinity War," this isn't the first time it has happened. In his previous Guardians of the Galaxy run, writer Brian Michael Bendis included everyone from Iron Man to Captain Marvel to Kitty Pryde to The Thing.
Is Ant-Man really the new addition coming to the Guardians? Guess fans will find out when the All-New "Guardians of the Galaxy" #12 hits the shelves on Oct. 18.
