The initial rumors about the release of Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was set in June of this year, according to Tech Times. But since the Surface Pro 5 relied on Intel Kaby Lake Processors, at least according to speculations, and this processor is set to be released at the later months of 2016, then this means that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will most likely be released next year.

The Surface Pro 5 is a premium laptop/tablet hybrid, so it's natural to assume that it won't run on nothing less than the latest Intel processor.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was released in October,2015, so many customers considered the possibility that the Surface Pro 5 will be released in October 2016. However, Microsoft usually doesn't follow any constant release date cycles. In fact, the first Surface Pro was released on a June, the Surface Pro 2 was made available on a September, while the Surface Pro 3 was in June 2014.

Specs

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will utilize the Kaby Lake processor and the Microsoft Windows 10 OS Redstone 2 update. Both specs are the reasons why the release of this device is delayed.

The screen of the Surface Pro 5 is rumored to be 4K Ultra HD. It is also assumed that the tablet/laptop hybrid will have a USB Type-C port, which CNET describes as having similar ends, "allowing for reversible plug orientation. You also don't need to worry about plugging it in upside down."

The Surface Pro 5 will also have 16 GB RAM, latest Nvidia Pascal architecture, or AMD Polaris. The device will also come in two display variations; 2K and 4K.

Another improvement is centered on the Surface Pen. The Surface Pen was a success with the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, sporting 1024 pressure points which allowed for a realistic pen experience, and an eraser on the other end.

For the Surface Pro 5, a lot of people are expected that the Surface Pen will be rechargeable, and not use AAA batteries like its predecessors.
