New Macbook Is Faster And Now Comes In Rose Gold

Apple has upgraded its 12-inch Macbook, which is now available with newer and faster processors, longer battery life and perhaps the most notable new feature, it also comes in Apple's signature color, rose gold, which was originally reserved for its iPhones. According to a report in The Verge, the upgrade comes one year after the device's initial release.

Under the hood, the new Macbook is powered by Intel's sixth-generation Core M processors, which range from 1.1 GHz for the entry level configuration and goes up to 1.3 GHz. These new processors are part of Intel's Skylake generation which is reported to bring "somewhere between 10 to 20 percent processing improvement,'" according to another report in Wired. The new Macbook is also equipped with faster memory modules which run at 1886 MHz, compared to the previous version's 1600 MHz memory modules. In terms of graphics processing, this year's Macbook has the more powerful 515 module also of Intel, which is said to bring 25 percent better performance.

Apple promises better battery life on the new Macbook, with estimates of 10 hours while web-browsing and 11 hours while watching movie continuously. These estimates are an hour better than the older Macbook model. According to The Verge, this additional hour may likely be due to the newer and faster processors.

The upgrades on the Macbook however are only mostly on the inside. The device still weighs the same at a very light 2 pounds and 13.1 millimeters thin. It still has a Retina display on a 12-inch screen, a Force Touch trackpad, a full keyboard and a single USB Type-C port for fast syncing and charging.

The very attractive rose gold color option was also added this time around.

Starting April 19, the Macbook went on sale via Apple's online store and will be available in retail stores starting April 20. The base model with a 1.1 GHz processor, 8GB of RAM and 256 GB internal storage is priced at $1,299, while the model with a 1.2 GHz processor, 8 GB of RAM and a bigger 512 GB storage sells for $1,599. The fastest processor at 1.3 GHz will only be available on build-to-order machines, according to reports.
