'Orphan Black' Season 3 News: Teaser Trailer Released, Premiere Set for April 2015
"Orphan Black" has released a new teaser trailer for its upcoming third season, and the clip suggests that a war may be brewing between the Tatiana Maslany's clones and the male clones, played by Ari Millen.
The teaser begins with Cosima saying, "This is a fight for knowledge." "This is war," Sarah continued. Helena and Alison are shown, as well as the new clones shown during the season 2 finale, the little girl clone and the two male clones.
One promo still released to Entertainment Weekly shows Sarah coming face to face with Rudy (Millen), and the BBC America official logline describes the meeting as such:
"More vulnerable than ever before, Sarah, Cosima, Alison, and Helena's bond will be put to the test with the reveal of highly trained, identical male-soldiers played by Ari Millen. Seen, Sarah is about to embark on a tense face off with the lethal Rudy in a Dyad prison cell."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, co-creator Graeme Manson said that on season three, Sarah will be tracking down her own story, so even though the male clones will be introduced, they won't be taking over the entire season.
"We want that audience to be taking that journey with Sarah, throughout the whole series. She's going to be leading her sisters and protecting her family. And that's the drive. She's the one the audience roots for, so when these guys show up, it's fantastic that we've got this diverse villain in the form of clones—villains or whatever they may turn out to be," Manson explained.
Manson also said that the meeting between Sarah and Rudy will not happen right away, but it will take place toward the beginning of the season.
"We don't waste a lot of time. That scene is what we like to call clone speed dating," he said.
"Orphan Black" season 3 premieres on April 18, 2015 on BBC America.
