PlayStation plus May 2016 Free Games Include 'Tropico 5,' 'God of War: Ghost of Sparta,' 'Bionic Commando Rearmed 2', and More!

It's time for a new batch of PlayStation Plus free games and Sony has recently announced the titles included for May 2016. These include two PS4 games, two PS3 games, one PS Vita game, and one cross-buy title.

For the PS4, Sony will be making available for free "Tropico 5," a construction and management simulation set in the remote island nation, and "Table Top Racing: World Tour." The latter launches officially on May 3, which means PS Plus subscribers get to play with the racing game ahead of other PS4 players.

Meanwhile for PS3 owners, "Bionic Commando Rearmed 2" and "LocoRoco Cocoreccho!" will be free for the month of May. "Bionic Commando Rearmed 2" is a platforming title from developer Fatshark and publisher Capcom, while "LocoRoco Cocoreccho!" is described as an "interactive screensaver" from Sony's Japan Studio.

For the PS Vita, "God of War: Ghost of Sparta" will be free to download next month. Part of the popular "God of War" series, "Ghost of Sparta" takes players between the events of "God of War" and "God of War: Betrayal" and revolves around the God of War Kratos making peace with his mortal past.

Last but not least, "Switch Galaxy Ultra" will be available to both the PS4 and PS Vita.

The full lineup is as follows:

  • "Bionic Commando Rearmed 2" (PS3)
  • "God of War: Ghost of Sparta" (PS Vita)
  • "LocoRoco Cocoreccho!" (PS3)
  • "Switch Galaxy Ultra" (PS4, PS Vita)
  • "Table Top Racing: World Tour" (PS4)
  • "Tropico 5" (PS4)

GameRant notes the lack of a blockbuster title from the list while acknowledging that Sony is offering PS Plus subscribers diverse and "fine smaller games" that are all "well reviewed." The community has expressed their desire for AAA titles but so far Sony has not made larger titles available for free on the service.

Sony has not detailed when these PS Plus May 2016 free games will go live. However, it could start on Tuesday, May 3, going by the company's history, according to GameRant.
