Sacha Baron Cohen's Oscars Stunt Gets Hollywood Approval (VIDEO)

Actor Appears on Red Carpet in Character From 'Dictator' Film

Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen made a splash Sunday evening at Hollywood's 84th annual Academy Awards dressed as the dictator from his upcoming film and pulling a prank on one of America's most popular television hosts, Ryan Seacrest.

Cohen arrived at the annual awards show dressed as Admiral General Shabazz Aladeen from the upcoming film, "The Dictator," which is set to be released this May by Viacom's Paramount Pictures.

The comedian was speaking to Seacrest on the red carpet when he dumped the "ashes" of late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il on the television host.

"If somebody asks you what you are wearing you will say Kim Jong-il," Cohen yelled as he was dragged away from the host by security guards.

The stunt is one of the most talked about moments from Sunday's big show and several stars in Tinseltown have given the prank their personal thumbs up.

"Do you know how lucky you are," E! co-host Juliana Rancic said. "You were the one chosen on the red carpet."

"My dream would be to be part of that. This is going to be trending worldwide in about one second," she added.

Tina Fey of "30 Rock's" played along with the prank bowing to the ashes and calling Seacrest "a good sport" and "victim of comedy."

"I thought it was funny and Ryan played along very well," E! network's Joel McHale told MTV.

"As long as no one was injured," McHale added calling the fellow comedian "genius."

However, not everyone thought the move was funny, including CNN's Piers Morgan.

"This is just not funny. At all. Really. @RyanSeacrest #rubsgoneintoconvulsions," Morgan tweeted.

"My mom always told me to pack two jackets for red carpets, always wondered why. Now I know," Seacrest joked via Twitter.
