ABC has released the official synopsis for episode 11 and the network hinted that Mellie may not be fully prepared to have Olivia run her presidential campaign. However, she will need her ex-husband's former mistress because she will have to go against another female presidential candidate, the report relays.

Liz North (Portia de Rossi) will push Susan Ross (Artemis Pebdani) to join the presidential race, but fans have yet to see if she will be able to handle the pressure that the position entails.

The synopsis also reveals that Abby (Darby Stanchfield) will have a beef with Cyrus (Jeff Perry) when a profile piece on Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) is questioned.

Season 5 will feature President Fitzgerald's loss of a child and pain caused by Olivia's departure. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Goldwyn admitted that they were not expecting the storyline to take that turn. The abortion and separation came as a shock to all of them, The Bitbag reports.

"I thought that final scene with me and Kerry, as bad as it was, was very well-written. It was very clear and quite balanced," Goldwyn told THR.

Nevertheless, Goldwyn thinks Fitz and Olivia will eventually find their way back to each other's arms after the dust settles. He says the two characters' strong love for each other should enable them to conquer every problem that comes their way.

"Scandal" season 5 airs every Thursday at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
