Spider-Man Comics Character News, Update: Miles Morales to Debut in Marvel Comics This Fall
When news broke out that Marvel and Sony have finally come into an agreement to reboot Spider-Man into the big screen, the public was quick to theorize that the new friendly neighborhood would be the mixed black and Hispanic version of the hero, Miles Morales.
The executives from the studio, however, clarified that this might not be the case. Marvel's Kevin Feige previously told Collider that it would be a teenager Peter Parker in his early high school years. The said character will first debut along with Chris Evan's Steve Rogers/Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron-Man in "Captain America: Civil War" in 2016.
Next up, the blue and red-masked Marvel hero will have his own standalone movie which is slated to hit the theaters 2017.
But for those who are still rooting for the racially-mixed version of Spider-Man, they may still get some big reason to smile. It was recently announced that Morales will be officially be joining the main Marvel Comics universe as the web-slinging superhero.
Citing the report from New York Daily News, Entertainment Weekly said that fans will now see the biracial Morales into the main MC storyline come this fall.
The character in question was introduced back in 2011. He replaced the slain Parker in the offshoot "Ultimate" line and quickly gained a massive following.
"Many kids of color who when they were playing superheroes with their friends, their friends wouldn't let them be Batman or Superman because they don't look like those heroes but they could be Spider-Man because anyone could be under that mask," writer and co-creator Brian Bendis told the publication. "But now it's true. It's meant a great deal to a great many people."
"Our message has to be it's not Spider-Man with an asterisk, it's the real Spider-Man for kids of color, for adults of color and everybody else," he went on to say.
