Tesla Model 3 News: Elon Musk Humors Followers With Progress; Model Might Not Make Launch Date

Elon Musk humored his followers on social media by sharing an update on the Tesla Model 3 production. Meanwhile, the upcoming Tesla Model might not make it on the announced date of release.

Musk, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Tesla, Inc., posted a video on Instagram showing the construction of the upcoming Tesla Model 3. The short clip previewed the inside of Tesla's Fremont factory, with automated robots in the assembly line forming a Model 3.

Musk attached the caption, "The Model 3 body line slowed down to 1/10th speed."

The video appears to be an indirect response to the speculations surrounding the slow production of the Tesla Model 3.

Wall Street Journal reported that the delay in the Tesla Model 3 production is because of factory workers crafting some of the parts by hand.

However, a spokesperson for Tesla refuted the report and said that every unit and part of the Tesla Model 3 was being built in the robot assembly line, Business Insider confirmed. Tesla also announced they were behind in production because of factory bottlenecks.

There are several reasons pointing out that Tesla will be delayed in launching their new Model 3, and one of them is their complicated production process for Model 3.

Tesla previously announced that production for Model 3 involves an "S curve," which involves a slow process of adapting and learning at a certain point before it goes full speed in production.

Aside from that, Tesla has small factories compared to the other big leagues in automobiles such as Toyota and Honda. Even though Tesla has begun mass producing the Model 3, they are still producing at a smaller rate compared to other automobile companies.

On the other hand, Tesla is known to give launch dates that they don't commit to because they'd rather maintain quality than punctuality.

The Tesla Model 3 is anticipated to be launched this year.
