'The Affair' Season 2 Spoilers – A Swift Descent Downwards For Everybody

Season 2 of "The Affair" seems to diving straight into the problems that could arise from an affair between two individuals with families attached to them. The remaining part of the season seems to focus on the family members of Noah and Alison who are facing the consequences of their affair.

It is amazing that all four characters of "The Affair" are going downhill swiftly. The season began with the first tremors to be felt in the idyllic Hudson Valley cottage that lovers Noah and Alison have retreated into.

First, Cole Lockhart appeared in Alison's house and the encounter with Cole started a deep thought process in Alison's mind. From then on she is just not into Noah and viewers see Alison's mind wandering many times.

One of the episodes focused on Cole and showed how lonely and desperate he is. Penniless, Cole, after working for long hours, drives from Montauk to meet Alison and return some things. By the end of the episode, he has gathered sympathy from the viewers and is seen as a lonely, desperate man still in love with Alison.

Then in the next episode, Noah's teenage daughter drops in unannounced at their cottage after Noah has just proposed to Alison and she has accepted. She hates Alison, rants at her and tries to remove the ring from her finger. Alison is shocked by all this and goes into a shell.

Meanwhile, Helen, Noah's wife, has a super episode to herself. She goes totally off canter, drinks a lot, sniffs marijuana, forgets to pick up her kids from the camp and ends the day with being charged for assaulting a cop.

Now Noah will have to stay in a motel with his kids. The terrible events do not stop here. Alison gets furious with Noah as he has detailed their love life and has gone quite explicit about their love making in the manuscript of his latest novel, "Descent."

The title of the novel, "Descent" says it all. The season is a relentless pushing of characters to the limit of their anger, inner demons and helplessness.

There is a hint that the Noah's novel, "Descent" will become a bestseller. Will this bring a parting of ways with Alison? Alison will go stay with her mother while Martin's medical emergency will bring the Solloway family together.

What about Noah and Helen's responsibility towards their four kids? And what will Cole do next as his relationship with Luisa is also not going anywhere?
