Easter 2017: California School Holidays for Spring

Students are always looking forward to spring break season each year, which usually comes along with the Easter holidays. In the state of California, a few colleges have already spent their spring break in the early weeks of March, while spring recess for most of the rest is just about to begin.

Approximately, the spring term or Easter holiday for schools in California has been set from April 1 to 17, with variations depending on the calendar schedules set by different schools. Some colleges like the University of Redlands and the William Jessup University have already had their spring break in late February, while the California State University — Bakersfield and the Citrus College are all set for spring break in the third week of April.

About Travel has listed the colleges and universities in California with their corresponding spring break dates to serve as an easy reference for local students, as well as tourists from out of town, who are looking to plan recreational trips to various spring break destinations both within and outside the state.

Southern California offers many beach destinations for students who want to have some fun in the sun. On the other hand, many of Lake Tahoe's ski resorts are still open for visitors who are looking for more extreme activities like snowboarding and skiing, and some ski resort events like the Winterwondergrass music festival at Squaw Valley or the Heavenly's Unbuckle Apres Party.

Adventurers who are into hiking can go visit San Jose during the spring break season and try out the 6-mile trails to the famous Mission Peak that's overlooking the infamous Silicon Valley. San Jose is also home to the historic and haunted mansion known as the Winchester Mystery House.

Whether it's a trip within the state of California or outside of it, students are advised to be mindful of their safety and to always stay alert. It also helps to be well-informed about the places that they are planning to visit by doing their research ahead of their trip.
