Xbox 'Games With Gold' Offers 4 Free Games For January

It is the start of the New Year and most consumers have spent their holiday shopping money in last month of 2015. Microsoft Xbox however would still like to offer new games for its loyal fans without spending a dime. According to a report on Xbox Wire, Microsoft is offering four free games for its consoles, the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 through Games with Gold.

The free games are for Xbox Live Gold subscribers and will be available starting this January. There are two free games for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360. There is also one hold-over game from December 2015 for the Xbox One.

One of the offers for the Xbox One is the fighting game "Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition," which makes use of "traditional combo-based gameplay." Fighting can be done in two modes – single player and multi-player. "Killer Instinct" will be available for free download from January 1 to 31. This version of the game will also include characters from the game's Season One as well as 16 additional character accessory packs.

The other title on offer for the Xbox One is "Thief," a stealth video game where players get to play a master chief who sneaks into Victorian houses and steals from the rich. This game will be available from January 1 to 15 only.

The hold-over game is "Zheros" which is a side-scrolling fighting game. Like "Killer Instinct," it is also makes use of combo-based gameplay. "Zheros" will be available from January 16 to February 15.

The games for Xbox 360 include "DiRT Showdown," an off-road racing game from the makers of the "Colin McRae" series, and the cyberpunk role-playing game "Deus Ex: Human Revolution," which is the predecessor of the upcoming "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided." "DiRT Showdown" will be available from January 1 to 15, while "Deus Ex" will be available from January 16 to 31.

With the Xbox backwards compatibility program as well, the Xbox 360 free titles can be playable on the Xbox One as well, so this is a welcome bonus for current generation console owners.
