Sony has recently come out with the PS4 Slim, an upgraded version of the original console that was released in 2013.

The company's console has always been pitted against Microsoft's console system. Microsoft has also recently come out with the Xbox One S which was released a few weeks before Sony's PS4 Pro. Holidays are just around the corner so here are the things you need to know if you're planning to get one of the two.

Both the Xbox One S and PS4 Slim are upgraded versions of their predecessors. They are packed with newer features, software and hardware to keep up with advanced gaming technology.

The Xbox One S and PS4 Slim are capable of supporting 4K and HDR gaming technology. However, the Xbox One S can support 4K Blu-ray discs while the PS4 Slim doesn't, even though it has a Blu-ray drive inside its console, Gotta Be Mobile noted.

In terms of design and packaging, there have been a few changes to the consoles as well. The Xbox One S has become more compact and quieter and will no longer be bundled with the Kinect. The console no longer has a port for the device, but it can still be used via a USB adapter for the sensor.

The PS4 Slim is now thinner and uses the DualShock 4 Controller which can be used for both console and PC. This can be managed via a USB cable.

The starting price of a standard PS4 slim starts at $300. According to Digital Trends, there are different bundles that customers can choose from to accompany with their 500GB unit. The most popular bundles are "Uncharted 4", "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare", "Watch Dogs 2" and more. The PS4 slim units are set to be released on Sept. 16. The 1TB PS4 Slim Price is said to be around $400.

The Microsoft Xbox One S has three storage variations - 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. According to Tech Radar, the 500GB Xbox One S devices are $299. The 1TB versions are priced at $349 and the 2TB Xbox One S devices are $399.

As to which console is better, the Xbox One S or PS4 Slim, it looks like both have different perks that cater to different players. Both consoles have exclusive games and bundles that are worth the money.
