'United We Stand' Rally Attracts Attention from Both Sides

The “United We Stand” rally did not go unnoticed on its second stop at Elmhurst on Saturday afternoon. While supporters held signs reading “Protect Marriage NOW!”, protesters, which included a group of Elmhurst College students and a Chicago-based gay activist group, countered with signs calling for "Equal Rights" to marriage for homosexuals. Organizers of the rally, which is making a 14-city stop throughout Illinois, want a constitutional amendment defining marriage throughout the state after a proposal was stopped in the House earlier this year.

The rally is receiving tremendous support, according to Peter Le Barbara of the Illinois Family Institute.

Today, the rally bus will visit Effingham and Champaign and conclude in Joliet tomorrow.
