2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport Release Date, Specs, Price News: Limited Edition Model to Debut at Chicago Auto Show
At the Chicago Auto Show commencing this weekend, Ram Trucks will be introducing the 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport — a limited-edition model featuring a striking new color.
"The Ram 1500 Copper Sport builds on the ever-increasing demand for factory-custom trucks. Our customers continue to enjoy the attention to detail and styling our designers put into each trim level, and this new eye-grabbing model will not disappoint," said Mike Manley, head of Ram Brand, FCA — Global.
As its name implies, the main highlight of the model will be its exterior paint color — Copper Pearl. The pickup truck's appearance is also enhanced by the body-color grille on the front fascia, the black decals on the Sport performance hood and black badges on front, side and rear of the Ram 1500 Sport. The limited-edition model also comes standard with 22-inch polished aluminum wheels.
The eye-catching theme continues inside the cabin with Copper accent stitching, Sport embroidery on the bucket seats and color accents on the Ram embroidery on the headrests. The black headliner and pillars also have Copper accents while there is sport mesh on the seat inserts. This special trim also adds a nine-speaker Alpine premium audio system with a subwoofer.
The 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport is powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that is mated with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission to deliver 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. It has a fuel efficiency rating of 18 miles per gallon (mpg) for city driving and 25 mpg for highway driving.
Meanwhile, customers looking for more power can opt for the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 powertrain for 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. It delivers 15 mpg city and 22 mpg highway driving.
The 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport is scheduled to arrive at dealerships later this month with a starting price of $45,630 and an additional $1,320 charge for destination. Only 3,000 units will be sold.
