2020 Volkswagen I.D. Crozz: The SUV Crossover Electric Vehicle
Known for their iconic beetle design, Volkswagen has joined the roster of automobile companies who have revealed what lies in wait for the customers. The Volkswagen I.D. Crozz has garnered a bit of attention since it was released, partially because of the controversial name. Other than that, the SUV and four-door coupe crossover are expected to compete with the electric vehicles set to be released in the coming years.
"Our task is to make modern technology available to many people," said Volkswagen Brand Board of Management chairman Herbert Diess, as reported by Express. "This is especially important in times of technological transformation. One thing is clear: the golf of the future must once again be a people's car."
Considering that the car is still in the production stage and is not expected to arrive until 2020, Volkswagen chose to highlight some of the features that have been confirmed thus far. As it is an EV, CNET reports that voice commands are being developed to allow the driver to switch from autonomous mode to driving mode. Furthermore, if the driver chooses to be in charge of the road, a voice assistant will give directions through an augmented-reality display.
Volkswagen further claims that the power will be somewhere within the 300 horsepower range and that the I.D. Crozz will have a top speed of 112 miles per hour. The automobile giant also seems to have integrated more features by ensuring that occupants of the car will be able to control the roof with gestures and having the rear doors slide open instead of the normal pull.
There are limited details on the Volkswagen I.D. Crozz but fans claim that it is a nice representation of how EVs will look like once they have taken over the roads. There is no official word yet on how much the SUV crossover will cost.
