3 takeaways from the midterm exit polls

2. GOP loses 2024 gains with Hispanic voters; support from Asians, whites declines
Two years after Trump won 46% of the Latino vote, Republican support among this group dropped to 34% in 2026 amid two years of the Trump administration's ramped-up immigration enforcement efforts.
While Trump captured a majority of Latino men (54%) in 2024, Democrats secured a larger majority (58%) among them two years later. Democrats also fared about 10 points better with Latina women, who gave Democrats a majority of their votes in both 2024 (58%) and 2026 (68%).
Trump received 40% of the Asian vote in 2024, but Republican support among this group fell significantly to 28% two years later.
Even among white voters, traditionally the most reliably Republican group, Democrats and Republicans tied at 49% apiece this year. By contrast, Trump won 57% of the white vote in 2024. Democrats received an overwhelming majority of support from black voters in both 2026 (90%) and 2024 (86%).
