3 things to know about the terror plot targeting White House UFC event

2. Suspect’s mother helped foil terror plot

Investigators began looking into suspect Tycen Proper after the 19-year-old’s mother called police four days before the UFC fight, according to a federal complaint. The teenager’s mother told police about her son’s internet activities, saying Proper had met with people online and planned "recons" with them.

The suspect’s family said the teenager "quit his job" to prepare for an upcoming "mission.” Proper also allegedly used $3,000 of his graduation money on firearms purchases, which included an AR-style rifle.

During an interview with investigators at a medical facility, Proper reportedly said he and several others planned to carry out an attack during the UFC event at the White House.
