4 highlights from Acting Atty. Gen. Todd Blanche's confirmation hearing

1. Senators on both sides of the aisle remember Lindsey Graham
While Republicans were given 12 of the 22 seats on the Senate Judiciary Committee at the beginning of the 119th U.S. Congress, one of the seats on the committee is vacant following the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., over the weekend. Many members of the committee, from both political parties, acknowledged Graham’s death during their remarks and warmly remembered him. A bouquet of flowers was present in Graham’s seat during the hearing.
“He was a good person, a valuable part of the Senate family and an extremely valuable part of this committee,” said Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., during his opening remarks. “I have cherished memories of both our fierce partisan battles and our landmark bipartisan agreements. He was a trusted friend.”
Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., informed Blanche that “our distinguished and late colleague, Senator Graham, was excited about your nomination.” Britt told Blanche that “he was passionate about many things, which we saw here in this committee just in amazing ways.”
