2. A mixed bag for abortion referendums

Four states had abortion-related referendums on the ballot Tuesday. The pro-abortion position prevailed in all but one of them.

Nevada and Virginia have become the latest states to enshrine a right to abortion in their respective state constitutions. In Nevada, 63.3% of voters backed Question 6, which will establish a right to abortion in the state constitution. In Virginia, 62.4% of voters supported Question 1, which established a right to abortion in the state constitution.

In Missouri, voters were asked if they wanted to repeal a previously passed ballot measure establishing a right to abortion in the state constitution. A majority of voters (55.5%) rejected Amendment 3, which would have also enshrined a ban on sex-change procedures for minors into the state constitution.

In Idaho, 56% of voters have rejected Proposition 1, which would have established a right to abortion in the state constitution.
