Biden also pushed back against any notion that he should step aside, claiming that only God Himself could remove him from the race.

"I mean, if the Lord Almighty came down and said, 'Joe, get out of the race,' I'd get out of the race. The Lord Almighty's not coming down," Biden said when asked about prominent Democrats pressing him to get out.

Many prominent Democratic leaders and donors were reportedly left panicking after the debate, with some suggesting that Biden should step down as the 2024 Democratic nominee. He has since been hemorrhaging major Democratic donors such as Disney heiress Abigail Disney and media mogul Barry Diller.

Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., is gathering a group of Democratic lawmakers to urge Biden to pass the torch, The Washington Post reported last Friday.

On Monday, Biden released a lengthy letter to Democrats on Capitol Hill explaining that he has no intention of leaving.

"I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump," Biden wrote.

"The voters — and the voters alone — decide the nominee of the Democratic Party. How can we stand for democracy in our nation if we ignore our own party."
