5 things to know about the suspect charged with Israeli Embassy murders
5. Condemned the Israeli, US governments for war in Gaza.
Rogriguez reportedly published a post on the social media site X last Wednesday evening that chastised the Israel and United States governments for what he referred to as atrocities committed against Palestinians in Gaza since war broke out in 2023.
Titled "Escalate For Gaza, Bring The War Home," The New York Times reports that the post didn't refer to the shooting later that evening but appeared to justify "armed action."
Prosecutors say Rodriguez told police at the scene that he committed the crime "for Palestine," saying, "I did it for Gaza."
"Additional posts made by the X account over the past 20 months echo similarly extreme anti-Israel sentiments, such as language in one post declaring 'Death To Israel' and in another calling a Jewish individual a 'zionazi [sic],'" reads an analysis posted by the Anti-Defamation League. "The account also shared openly pro-terror content, including reposting videos of former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah."
