Former Southern Baptist Convention President Ronnie Floyd weighed in on the election of Johnson, saying in a statement to The Christian Post that he approved of the choice.

“Speaker Mike Johnson is a constitutional scholar, a convictional and compassionate proven leader, but above all, he is a passionate, godly, and prayerful follower of Jesus Christ,” stated Floyd.

“Through the past few years, I have had the opportunity to pray and interact with him. Ever since I first met him, I knew he had God’s favor upon his life. As we have prayed with and for him since last weekend, we have watched God do a miracle this week in raising him up for this hour of leadership in America.”
