The Philos Project, which describes itself as an advocacy group focused on equipping "Christians to stand with Israel and the Jewish people, support persecuted Christians in the Middle East, and foster a revival of Western values rooted in the Hebraic origins of our faith," reacted to the shooting in a statement with The Christian Post.

"We at the Philos Project mourn the murder of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim," the statement proclaimed. "Yaron, a Christian and Sarah, a Jew, were united in their love for Israel and Zionism."

The couple attended an event for young diplomats that focused on providing humanitarian aid to those in need and "building bridges across national and religious lines," the group stated.

"They were living out the core commands of the Bible: to do unto others as you would have them do unto you," the statement reads. "They modeled at the heart of diplomats from Israel — the nation that gave the world the Bible, the book that teaches us how God expects us to live and act toward one another."

Identifying Rodriguez as someone who abides by "a vision of envy and hatred," the Philos Project said, "[t]he contrast between the lives of these individuals should serve as a reminder that every day, we have a choice in how we live."

"We can build bridges like Yaron and Sarah or foster envy and hate like their murderer," the statement conintues, concluding by expressing hope that "their family [will] be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem" and that God would "avenge their blood."
