LGBT activists, Sophie Cunningham supporters clash outside WNBA game: 5 things to know

2. Trans activists shout down Cunningham supporters

On Sunday, Frontlines TPUSA shared footage on social media that showed supporters of Cunningham chanting “Let women speak!” The media arm for the conservative group Turning Point USA noted in its post that several of the individuals at the rally are with XX-XY Athletics, a brand that advocates for women’s sports.

The video also showed activists opposed to Cunningham using their signs to try and block the women’s sports advocates from view. One of the signs seen in the video, held by a male LGBT activist, reads, “Trans athletes belong!”

Another video shared by Frontlines TPUSA shows the same activist with the “Trans athletes belong!” sign waving a fan that says “C—” at the supporters of Cunningham.

“This is for you, b—” the male activist is heard saying to someone in the group of women’s sports advocates. In response to the man’s actions, Cunningham supporters called the LGBT activist a misogynist.

Speaking with Frontlines TPUSA, XX-XY Athletics founder Jennifer Sey said that the trans activists “have no rational points to make, so they just shout us down.” Sey said that most of the women’s sports advocates are smiling and handing out products while activists scream at them.

“So, mostly they’re just annoying,” the XX-XY Athletics founder stated. “And I feel like, when people see how they behave, it makes people not want to be on that side.”
