Aisha Khan Found Alive, Disappearance Remains A Mystery

A missing Kansas teen sparked a national search after disappearing Monday, but now she has been found safe and sound.

Aisha Khan, 19, was found unharmed and confirmed she was never abducted or held against her will, according to ABC's KMBC.

The Christian Post spoke with Sean Reilly, a spokesman for Overland Park in Kansas who confirmed Khan had been found alive on Wednesday.

"We're glad she's been found and that there was no criminal activity," Reilly told CP.

Khan, who is married, had her family fearing the worst had happened after leaving a series of disturbing voicemails with her sister shortly before her disappearance.

"Oh my gosh he was so scary. My heart is, like, pounding. I've never got this scared in my life… Pick up your phones, I am freaked out right now," Khan said hurriedly in the voicemail message to her sister.

In the voicemails, Khan had complained that a strange man had approached her as she studied for an exam at an outdoor park area. After the allegedly intoxicated man approached Khan and made sexual advances toward her, she claimed to have slapped him before running away.

Media critics quickly became suspicious after pointing out the lack of fear in Khan's tone while analyzing the voicemails.

Khan's relieved family held a press conference on Wednesday night thanking the public for their on-going support.

Although the student has been found, members of the public are demanding answers after police and Khan's family failed to explain the reason behind her disappearance. So far, no explanation has been given.

Police had initially advised that they were treating the disappearance as an abduction, and now the case is being closed.

Reilly was unable to answer specific questions about why Khan abruptly disappeared, but he did say, "We wish her the best of luck."
