Amish Mafia Star Alan Beiler Imprisoned Ahead of Season Two (VIDEO)

Alan Beiler, star of the Amish Mafia reality series, has been sentenced to prison this week for injuring a police officer in a car chase back in July 2012.

Beiler, 35, was sentenced from three to 23 months in prison after leading a car chase with the police last summer, which resulted in a police officer being injured.

When Beiler was stopped by police for driving with an expired registration, he decided to drive off into oncoming traffic to evade the police. The chase led to a car crash and one of the officers suffered a minor concussion. He was later arrested at his home and charged.

In May, Beiler pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to elude police, drug possession, and driving with a suspended license.

During his sentencing hearing on Aug. 8, Beiler told the judge that he is a "better person and new man" after the incident. He also said that the fact that the officer only suffered a mild concussion following the crash proved that "there was definitely an angel sitting in my passenger seat."

Perry County Judge Kevin A. Mummah said the reality star's actions still deserved prison time before handing down the prison sentence. "You're lucky no one was killed," he said.

Beiler was led from the courtroom by sheriffs to start his prison term immediately.

The second season of Amish Mafia is set to premiere next week on the Discovery channel on August 14 at 9 p.m. ET. The reality show, which debuted in December 2012, follows the "Lebanon Levi" and his three assistants who enforce their own laws and rules to protect the Amish community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
