Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Motorola Moto E Release Date Ready; OS Soak Test Taking Place in India
Good news for Motorola Moto E users, a report from IBTimes indicated that the tech company is now getting ready to roll out the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop for the mid-range device.
Motorola is already conducting the soak test for the new OS in India. In fact, the Schaumburg, Ill.-based tech firm is currently inviting registered members from the company's Feedback Network through their official Facebook page to join in the trial.
"With the soak test for the Android Lollipop update on the Moto E now live, subscribers of the feedback program, owning a Moto E, can test out the Lollipop update on their device and offer a feedback for the same," the site stated.
The soak test phase will basically find out any potential technical issues of the Google OS before they will make it available for download via an over-the-air (OTA) update.
Like any current Motorola devices (Moto G and Moto X), the budget-friendly Moto E smartphone have been running on stock Android devoid of any layers of customization.
The company is known to release in a rather timely fashion the software updates for its devices, as what it has been seen in the past. But this time around, Motorola Solutions seems to have delayed the update for Lollipop for reasons concerning App lag, battery performance, and more others.
According to GSMArena, the manufacturer has seen the initial 5.0 build causing "App lag, severe battery, Wifi, Bluetooth and Call issues, on the non-Nexus device.
This "forced Motorola to wait it out so as not to disappoint its fans," wrote the tech website.
