Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update For Lenovo Phones Revealed
While most smartphone manufacturers have already made public their plans for updating their devices to the latest Android OS, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Lenovo has yet to make any announcement, until recently. According to a report in Tech Times, a roadmap concerning the Marshmallow update for Lenovo devices was shared on the Chinese site Weibo. The roadmap was reportedly part of a presentation made in China recently.
The Weibo post revealed which devices will be receiving the update and when. According to the report, the post included a photo of the roadmap, which listed the following handsets: the Vibe X3, Vibe P1, K3 Note and the A7000+ series.
Some of the phones listed will reportedly receive the OS update within the first three months of 2016, while several other Lenovo devices will need to wait until July 2016 to get their update.
The first device that is touted to receive the update, according to the post, is the international version of the K3 Note, with an update timeframe of March 2016. The Chinese releases of the Vibe P1 and the Vibe X3 are also set for a March 2016 schedule.
Next in line for the update are the Chinese release of the K3 Note together with the international models of the A7000, Vibe S1 and the Vibe P1. Among the last devices to receive Marshmallow will be the A7000 Plus and Vibe X3 international releases, which are estimated to be rolled out sometime July 2016.
Lenovo is not a popular brand in the U.S. but it is extremely popular in Asian markets such as China because of its reasonable prices and decent technical specs. According to the Tech Times report, the company is enjoying brisk sales of its devices in developing country markets. Lenovo also owns Motorola, which is enjoying similar success in the same markets.
