'Bates Motel' Season 3 Release Date, Spoilers: Norma Bates and Caleb Calhoun Unfinished Business

A&E's flagship drama-thriller TV series "Bates Motel" is slated to return with its brand new season in 2015, according to reports. As the TV network's highest-rated drama, ordering another season was "certainly far from surprising" as the show was able to garner "solid viewership numbers" in the 18-49 demo.

A&E executive VP and General Manager David McKillop further gave light to the decision they've made for the show.

"The incredible writing team and talented 'Bates Motel' cast has made this series one of the most compelling original dramas on television. The brilliant twists and turns of the past two seasons keep its loyal fanbase coming back for more. We are so proud of the show," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

At SDCC 2014, executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin dropped some hints as to what to expect in the coming season. Also present were the show's lead stars Vera Farmiga (Norma Bates), Freddie Highmore (Norman Bates), Olivia Cooke (Emma Decody), Kenny Johnson (Caleb Calhoun) and Nestor Carbonell (Sheriff Alex Romero).

Farmiga revealed that there is much to be explored in the character of Caleb Calhon, who plays Norma's brother. Ehrin further dished out that there is a lot of issues that need to be settled between the siblings.

Highmore, on the other hand, said that his character is "completely innocent and will remain innocent" but teased that he can still become dangerous and evil if the show will lean more into the direction of the movie "Psycho."

Kerry Ehrin shed more light about where "Bates Motel" will pick up for the upcoming season.

"That's a little bit of an issue that we have to address and see how that's going to work. What's going to happen with Norma's dream of running this motel, living there happily with her kid, when she's on the outs now with the very people who got her inside the city council?" she told Zap2It.

"All that stuff has to be played out, so there are actually quite a lot of open doors that we want to continue," the "Friday Night Lights" writer added.
