Chelsea FC News: Blues eye Chinese defender if Stones talks fall.

Chelsea are looking to add to their defensive depth.

Despite being considered as one of the English Premier League title favourites after winning it last year, Chelsea are desperately trying to fill in the holes they have in the defensive end.

After four matches in the league, the Blues have only won once and have two defeats as they see themselves 13th in the league.

Aside from a barren spell in the offensive end of the pitch, the even more glaring issue for Jose Mourinho's men has been in the defence.

In their bid to make things better, Chelsea have made bids to strengthen their defence – notably trying to pry John Stones away from Everton.

It has been a long issue and it seems that the Blues are walking towards a dead end as the Toffees are firm in their stance that the rising star is not for sale at any price.

John Terry's pace and diminishing skills have been on full display and while Stones may be the best option to fix the issue, the fact that the transfer window is closing may result in them looking the other way.

And according to reports, the London club is now turning their attention to possibly acquiring Zhang Linpeng from Guangzhou Evergrande.

The Chinese national has often been compared to Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos for his physical play and his pace on the first third of the pitch.

Nicknamed "Zhangmos" for the comparison with Ramos, the 26-year-old Chinese star is considered to have a bright future in a league like the EPL.

When interviewed, he appeared very open to the chance to play in England.

He said: "I've worked hard and waited these five-six years for my dream of playing overseas, and finally have recognition from the English Premier League.

"I'm very happy and very excited to finally have this formal invitation," he continued.

The transfer window is coming down to its final days and big teams like Chelsea know that they have to make big moves in order to defend their league championship.
