Chelsea vs Schalke Live Stream Free: How to Watch Champions League Soccer Online (Start Time Info, Preview)

Chelsea will host FC Schalke 04 in the Champions League on Wednesday night in what will be a battle for control of Group E. The winners of tonight's game will be big favorites to win the group, where as the losers could potentially drop to third place in the group and out of the qualification spots for the knock out stages. The game will kick off at 2.45 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).

At the moment Chelsea and Schalke are tied for first place in Group E, with both teams picking up 6 points so far from their three games. Basel are in third place with four points, but could move to 7 points by the end of today if they can defeat basement team Steaua Bucharest, who are stuck on just one point.

Fernando Torres will be missing from the Chelsea line up for tonight's match up, and Samuel Eto'o is set to start in attack for the Blues in his absence. Torres of course scored twice against the German side in Gelsenkirchen last month, but he will be sorely missed for today's game as he is out with a leg injury.

Schalke will be a difficult team to play against tonight for Chelsea. They will be playing away and will no doubt make sure they don't let Chelsea have any spare room to get shots off on goal. The Germans are sixth in the Bundesliga after recovering from defeat by Borussia Dortmund with a 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin at the weekend.

Chelsea have not had the best preparations for this game, and recently lost to Newcastle. Blues boss Jose Mourinho has since told everyone that they should not read too much into that defeat as he made "11 mistakes" in the team he named for that game.

However, he has explained that his drastic changes to his starting 11 will not be to punish players, but will simply be because he is choosing the best starting 11 to win today's game: "I don't want people to see the changes I make as though someone's paying for the defeat at Newcastle," Mourinho said. "You have to make changes, not to punish people, far from it, but to try to get the best team to win the game."
