Christian Singer Tim Timmons Proclaims True Joy Despite Cancer Battle (Interview)

CP: Awake Our Souls is a great title, how does one have their soul awakened by God?

Timmons: I've lived a good part of my life asleep, or half awake at best, to the actual Good News that Jesus invites us into. The baseline definition of an "awakening" is to become awake, rise into action, become alert, become activated. This awakening changes our view about everything that we see, hear, and do.

This awakening invites us into a life where we begin to access the fullness of God that lives and dwells in Jesus and therefore lives/dwells in us. The question is, are we awake to this reality or not?

Here's a soul test: Are you trying real hard to live a good Christian life but feel powerless and defeated? Are you stuck in worry and fears? Is your soul tired? In Jesus and the availability of His Kingdom at work right here right now, there is the answer to all of these things.

The songs on this Awake Our Souls project are in response to the question, "so then what's it look like to actually seek first the Kingdom of God in my daily life?"Jesus awake our souls to a more full picture, reality and view of you!

CP: What can people expect from your latest album?

Timmons: As I said before, you'll hear a ton of joy in this new record! I really love these songs and all that they are inviting the Church into. I've been living them out and testing these prayers and songs, and I love the results in my life. So just try these out for a week and live these prayers out in your daily life and let me know how it goes!

CP: Your K-LOVE TV series "Timmons Pantry Raid" sounds like a riot. Is cooking something you were always good at?

Timmons: I love, love, love cooking!  If I weren't so into music as my art then I'd be a chef for sure. There is something so creative about cooking. There is something so unifying about food and the gift of preparing it for someone.

A good meal fills the body but a great meal is good for the soul. And generally when the body and soul are being encouraged, great conversations are present. Jesus used the table and food as the centerpiece for most of His work and ministry, so my hope is to carry on that work. Cooking, just like music, is merely the vehicle for great conversations, healing and restoration. So "Timmons Pantry Raid" is just that, a vehicle for laughter, healing and story. I think y'all will dig it!
