They were tasked to go head-to-head against the Wild who were 38-33-11 in the season and the first game between them showed just how dominating Dallas can be.

Playing at the American Airlines Center, the Stars impressed more than 18,000 fans as they controlled the pace and stopped the Wild from scoring anything throughout the course of the game.

Despite also failing to score in the opening period, the Stars went to work early in the second period as Radek Faksa gave Dallas the 1-0 lead with a goal at the 3:52 mark.

Then, Jason Spezza made it 2-0 with a goal in the second half of the period.

Already reeling, the Wild tried to bounce back but could not beat the Dallas defence as they tried to find openings for a goal.

And things went from bad to worse for Minnesota as Dallas scored two more times in the third period behind goals from Patrick Eaves and Jamie Benn to make it 4-0 and the Stars would eventually win wit the scoreline and a 1-0 series lead.

In the second game, it was more of the same as both teams struggled to find any offence in the first period, but the Stars eventually drew first blood as Antoine Roussel gave them the lead with a goal.

Benn found the back of the net for the second consecutive game to give Dallas a 2-0 lead before Marco Scandella trimmed that to half with a goal a little over two minutes later.

Unfortunately, the Wild ran out of time to find that tying goal and now face a 2-0 deficit in the series as they head home for the pivotal third game.
