'Doctor Who' Season 8 Release Date, Spoilers: 'Deep Breath' Trailer Impresses, Peter Capaldi to Be 'Rude' Doctor

"Doctor Who," the much-loved British science-fiction television show from BBC, is now fast approaching and fans of the series can hardly wait. Along with the excitement are the latest tidbits surrounding the upcoming season 8. Here's what we've know so far.

Executive producer Steven Moffat gave thoughts on Peter Capaldi as the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor.

"Peter will still be very much the Doctor," the 52-year-old writer told SFX Magazine. "He has a tremendous ability with throwaway humour and a lot of it is around the fact that sometimes he is terribly rude."

''I think kids will think he is the rude Doctor. You might want to cuddle him but he really will resist," he added.

The 56-year-old Capaldi will be the 12th actor to portray the Doctor along with Jenna Coleman's Clara Oswald.

Meanwhile, with the release of the new trailer for the episode entitled "Deep Breath," speculations pointed out that this season will feature more on the Time Lord's adventures in the Victorian London and less on his identity crisis.

A story synopsis of the Ben Wheatley-directed premiere was recently released.

"When the Doctor arrives in Victorian London he finds a dinosaur rampant in the Thames and a spate of deadly spontaneous combustions. Who is the new Doctor and will Clara's friendship survive as they embark on a terrifying mission into the heart of an alien conspiracy? The Doctor has changed. It's time you knew him," the summary states.

"Doctor Who" Season 8 Episode 1: "Deep Breath" will kick off with a global simulcast and cinema screening Saturday, Aug.23. To see the trailer click below.
